I have gotten to know Lewis over the past 6 months as a regular reader of his blog (bizsolutionsplus) and through frequent email exchanges. I do not always agree with him but I am always anxious to hear what he has to say. I was thrilled to receive a copy of his book as soon as it was available. Not only does he put forth sage advice but he also gives some very valuable outlines for business plans, marketing styles, and management effectiveness.
Now that I have written a book myself, I am both more critical of writers and more sympathetic. I notice layout errors and grammatical issues more than I ever did in the past. I know how much work it takes to put together the finished product long after the writing part is done. Lewis is to be admired for his effort and his message. I found very few errors and I think I am a very picky reader.
I believe I appreciate his message more because I have founded companies before. That said, I think that a great many entrepreneurs would benefit from reading this book at least twice through. It seemed to me I missed some points the first time and that some of his points should have been made sooner as they add a great deal to the basic premise of the book.
I know that as a new business leader I was very hungry for advice and insight. Unfortunately, too many business books are written by big company executives and from the perspective of public companies with hundreds of employees. What I needed was advice from someone who had created a small company; a person who has, and is, feeling my pain. Lead With Your Heart is sound advice from an author who has been there and done that.
I can with a sincere heart, recommend Lead With Your Heart. It sits on my bookshelf right next to Guy Kawasaki's "Art of the Start" and James Collin's "Good to Great" as a business book I will recommend to all entrepreneurs I meet. (Lead With Your Heart is also available at Amazon.com)
