I received my last copy of Business 2.0 yesterday. It seems that Time, Inc. is not going to continue publishing the magazine. This is sad because I don't like to see businesses or operations go under. That means people lose their jobs and it means that a constant in my life will be going away. It also means hunting the net for the voices that I liked to hear or the columns I liked to read.
When my subscription was up for renewal a few months ago I had heard a rumor that Biz2.0 was going to cease publication, so I called to see if it was worth renewing. I was assured that there were no plans to discontinue the magazine. Maybe at that time there were none or the person was not aware of them. I stopped following the story, but I guess, according to a recent blog post on the Motley Fool, the decision was made a while ago.
So, now I get a complimentary 1 for 2 subscription to Fortune magazine. That is for every Biz 2.0 issue remaining on my subscription, I get 1 copy of Fortune. I'm not happy about that. I stopped reading Fortune years ago when it seemed too out of touch for me. They constantly focus on large enterprises, and mostly hyped them, in my opinion. Any news was old by the time the magazine hit the stands or my mailbox.
Well there is still Fast Company...for now anyway.
