Is Nothing Better Than Something That May Be The Wrong Thing?
There are times when we have a few choices before us. We can go left, right, or straight ahead. Depending on the situation, we may also be able to just stay where we are for just a bit longer. Doing nothing is often viewed as not making a decision. I argue that it is deciding not to do the other options, even if you think you are just putting them off.

I admire people who are willing to wait for the right thing. They know what they want and their experience has reinforced their belief that they know what they are doing. They could be wrong but at least they have the patience to hold on to their plan and not to compromise.

There are times when, as a manager or leader, we feel compelled to choose the lesser of two evils rather than figure out how we can find the best course of action. This is often the result of poor planning or unforeseen events occurring. Experienced leaders see this less often but they still see it.

How do you handle those situations where you feel you may not be able to hold out? Do you panic? Do you fold? Do you bravely pursue the previously determined best course despite changes in the marketplace?
