To Modern Magellans, a "map" is any diagram, chart, or illustration that shows you the lay of the land and indicates various routes you can take. These can be found in presentations, web pages, and blog posts. They area often created for marketing materials, training programs, and business cards. They can be logos, how-to graphics, or dressed up lists.
There are many great maps all over the Internet. The trouble is that they can be hard to find. Modern Magellans is creating a collection of great maps so that they will be easier to find. Since most blog posts are buried in the archives, any maps they contain are also out of sight. Out of sight means not easily found.
There are many reasons why this collection will be useful.
1 - As examples for others - this will help them develop better maps
2 - They link back to the originator - this should bring more traffic to the mapmaker
3 - The message will get out about such great maps - improves brand identity and awareness
A great map, and an example of the kinds of maps we are looking for, is the map by Drew McLellan at McLellan Marketing Group.
To have your map appear in the Maps for Modern Magellans site:
A) Register (form on the left of any page on the Maps for Modern Magellans site) AND be approved as an Author. The approval step can take a day or so. The instructions for working with the content management software will be sent to you. You must have the copyright authority to use the image and descriptive text. The image will not be uploaded to the site but should be linked to from your hosted site. You will have the ability to edit the post after it has been approved.
B) Send an email to drrogera [at] modernmagellans [dot] com with the following items included. (You can send an email to suggest a map made by someone else for inclusion.)
1. Your Company (If applicable)
2. Your name
3. The URL of the site to link to
4. The URL if the Image or thumbnail to present
5. The text of the description (can be split to have some above and some below)
