Saturday Blogging Post

Today is the last day of June. I had an unexpressed goal of trying to get my Technorati Authority rating up to 200. I did not quite make it but I got close 193.

The ranking is a reflection of the number of different blogs that have a link back to your blog in the past 180 days. It does not matter if you comment once, or 100 times on a single blog - that is one blog linking to your blog. You may have a "blog reaction" number that can be much higher than your Authority ranking because you post commetns on some blogs more frequently than others.

Some things you can do to build links -

Participate in lists:

Liz Strauss did one on blog metaphors

Chris Garrett is doing one on Personal Branding (He calls it a "Round-Up")

Carousels or Carnivals - Krishna De is putting one together

Drew McLellan is building a bloggers toolbox. You could add to that or at least use it

Like Becky Carroll you could create a blog that makes people think - this is always a good thing.

Some other ideas....

Don't Be A Hostage
Even for the best Modern Magellans there are always things that we do not know how to do. This is a part of life. If you have a business, then you need to make sure that you know how to do every job, task, or duty that is essential to the operation. I know executives that can drive big rigs if it comes to that. I know CEOs that can operate milling machines if necessary. I 'm certain that even Captains in the Navy can man battle stations if called upon. Continue Reading
